[7 Feb] Do you feel that India needs to become a superpower one day?

If yes, what does it need to do to achieve superpower status? If no, then what should it focus on?

If we look at Indian history, we can discover that once upon a time India was one among top leading countries but with time it got lost. However, in these 75 years of independence, India has shown remarkable growth and development. The Indian economy is the fifth largest economy of the world. We are one of the strongest armies across the globe. This all signifies that we, Indian, have great potential to become a superpower. There is no limit of achievement, growth and success and so, we should try to become a superpower one day.

To become a superpower, we should not look at ‘K’ shape growth and development. However, we should uplift the rural to make a strong foundation. Agriculture, being the backbone of India, should be a focus. We should turn up with policies, rules and regulation which uplift the standard of farming equivalent to today’s white-collar jobs.

We should also make India a manufacturing hub. This will attract many other countries to invest in our country, ultimately, leading to create dependencies in the world. Education sector is another very important sector as the youth will only be our future. With no doubt, we already have a lot of good policies and incentives but they are poorly implemented and that needs a check.

Corruption is another area which needs a strong attention. We have many scams such as - Harshad Mehta, Nirav Modi, Vijay Mallya, where the country's economy has shaken. We have registered many cases of corrupt policemen, politicians and even doctors. Government should do a sanity check on a regular basis and execute stringent punishment on the accused.

So, we can safely say that India has great potential to be a superpower and so it should strive hard to achieve it. However, to build a strong foundation it has to look at the development of rural, inhouse manufacturing, research and development, and political stability.
